Developing Leaders & the ‘It’ factor

Recently I had the fantastic privilege of being a judge at UTS for the Clayton Utz Intervarsity Negotiation Competition and also to present training on Developing your Personal Presence for NSW Young Lawyers at their mid- year assembly. Both very rewarding and fun for me.  Being in the observation seat of so many talented speakers and presenters was great. It’s always fascinating to me to see who has the ‘It’ factor. What is the IT factor? The ‘It’ factor is more than a speaker’s ability to speak clearly and professionally, which of course definitely provides a strong foundation...

3 Keys to Improving Your Personal Presence

Have you ever noticed that when some individuals speak everyone listens. This can be frustrating when you feel you have something important to say and may feel you have trouble being heard or making an impact. If you’ve ever found yourself in this situation then consider the following keys. The 3 most important things to understand to improve your communication are: 1. Every ONE can make a difference

This week I have been delivering public speaking workshops to teens. Year 8 girls in fact, over 120 year 8 girls and it was great fun. Lily and I left each workshop feeling excited and talking about how different each one was, even though we were delivering the same content. The most refreshing part about it was their enthusiasm and honesty. I work a lot with adults, corporate types, and it always amazes me how much more content you can cover and how honest the teenagers are. I hope they are able to keep that honesty. Being self aware, or honest with your self is the first step to making a...

Secrets of Six-Figure Women

Book Review   “Success rarely comes to the passive or pessimistic” I don’t usually write personally here but there is something that I am so passionate about I thought it was time I did. In early 2010 I came across a recommendation for a book on a website that I cannot recall, but I took a punt and ordered it from Amazon and well the rest of the story is outlined here.  “Secrets of Six Figure Women” by Barbara Stanny is straight forward,...
